4 Groundbreaking Products to Help You Go Green

24 Aug 2015

This month at Tekoia we are cracking down on waste. We only have one planet, and we want to do everything possible to make where we live eco-friendly.

Are you on board?

We recently launched our #TrashYourRemote campaign and we’re asking everyone to get rid of your remotes and choose a greener option like a universal remote app. And don’t forget to enter our epic giveaway.

Keeping in theme with going green, we’d like to feature five totally awesome products that will help you go green and begin a greener lifestyle.

So, let’s check them out:

1. Dash

Dash is a cool app that fully connects to your car’s computer system and gives you more access to information about your car.

With Dash, you can view what your fuel efficiency is, your engine temperature, and even have access to engine light codes. This can help save you money by not going to your auto dealership whenever your engine light goes on.

Dash wants to help improve your driving habits, and they do this by not only giving your more information about your car, but they also give you a grade.

This grade encourages you to drive better, so you’re not accelerating more than you should or braking more than you need to. This helps you drive in a safer and fuel efficient way.

2. Lagoon

Lagoon is s neat concept that helps homeowners monitor and reduce their water usage.

Since most people are not consciously aware of how much water they use in a given day, Lagoon can change the world for the better.

It works by using a sensor you strap around your main home’s water pipe. This syncs to their mobile app, giving you data on:

  • Your water usage over time
  • Leaks
  • Spikes in water usage
  • Tips to help you reduce your waste

Lagoon will help you make better decisions about your water use, helping you go green.

3. Rachio

Speaking about water, here’s another cool water-saving app you can use for your lawn’s sprinkler system called Rachio.

Rachio isn’t like any other sprinkler system; it accurately tunes your landscape for the best optimum amount of water it needs.

When setting up your Rachio, it segments your yard into zones and from there you configure each zone’s landscape. So, for example, the app asks about:

  • What kind of grass you have
  • What kind of soil you have
  • The amount of sun exposure
  • Your sprinkler’s nozzle type
  • Slope of your landscape

With this precise data, Rachio can calibrate how much water your lawn needs. This is saving your money and is saving the planet gallons of water.

4. HomeBioGas

HomeBioGas is a groundbreaking biodigester. It turns your kitchen food scraps and animal manure into cooking gas and fertilizer.

How amazing is that?

It’s sustainable living in your backyard. Traditional ways of harnessing biogas are usually headed by big companies and require big investments. They may trap methane from landfills and use anaerobic digesters to turn that waste into gas for heat and electricity.

With HomeBioGas, you can do it yourself. With this home system, if you supply it with enough waste, it can produce enough gas for cooking three meals every day.
