April Fools’ Day is just around the corner and we all know what that means. Everyone is scrambling around, trying to come up with a cool and techy way to prank his or her friends and family.
It can be hard trying to come up with a new, unique way to pull the wool over your friends’ eyes. We live in the digital world, so here is your chance to use technology to perform this year’s April Fools’ Day joke on your friends, family and even strangers.
1. Download the FREE SURE Remote Control App
Setup literally takes seconds and once it is downloaded you can have fun all day playing April Fools jokes on unsuspecting victims.
If you don’t already have SURE Universal Remote on your smartphone, download the app from the Google Play Store.
SURE Universal Remote is really easy to navigate with a simple user interface anyone can use.
After you download the app, click “IR Appliances” then “Add” and then “TV”. Locate the TV you want to use for your prank by selecting the appliance on the navigation panel.
You then need to run the tests and click the “Power” button to make sure that you are connected to the TV. Click “Accept” and the right arrow at the bottom. Then the Check button and you are all set.
SURE uses both the built-in Infrared (IR) Blaster in your smartphone and WiFi and has a huge database of appliances.
Once you connect to the device, it’s time to have a little fun.
2. Hijack Your Friend’s TV
For this April Fools’ joke to work, you’re going to have to be at your friend’s house, in the same room as their TV.
When your friend leaves the room connect your SURE Universal Remote to their TV.
Once they are back in the room suggest a show and let the games begin. While your friend is switching the channels, use your SURE Universal Remote to turn up the volume.
When you friend looks confused at his remote and lowers the volume, use your SURE Universal Remote to change the volume or the channel. If your friend is connected to cable TV you will need to connect that too. Follow the same instructions above and select Set-Top/Cable Box instead of TV.

3. Confuse an Ice Cream or Burger Joint Worker
Did you know many food establishments are using Smart TV’s? So if you are planning on eating an ice cream store or going to a burger joint that has a TV, use your SURE Universal Remote to play around with their TV display.
It won’t take long before the workers are confused by what’s going on.
4. Annoy Your Partner During Their Favorite Show
This one will be for the evening when you and your partner are settling down to watch your favorite TV show. As your partner settles into the show, you can begin to test their nerves.
Start to fiddle with the volume – and mute the show. Either hide the TV remote or let them try to use it while you are still using your SURE Universal Remote to play around with the volume or channel.
We advise not letting this go too far,and when they are really mad just give them a big smile and a kiss and let them know it is “April Fools!” oh, and of course that you love them!
