We Found the Best Movie Trilogies to Help You Relax!

Had a tough week at work?

Is the boss breathing down your neck and you can’t seem to escape all the gossip happening in your department?

When this happens, I’m sure all you’re thinking is, when is it time to go home?

And sometimes all you want to do is get in your comfy chair, grab your SURE Universal remote and start binge watching.

You deserve it, right?

Working long hours and having little time to yourself, you decide to take the weekend and have fun watching some oldie but good movies.

But, these aren’t just any movies. These are trilogies or movie series. Packed with action, fighting, drama and suspense, these top binge watching movies will help you forget about the hectic week you just had.

Grab your popcorn and favorite drink, and let’s get ready to watch some of the best movie trilogies.

1. Lord of the Rings

Director Peter Jackson seemed like he did the impossible – he was able to accurately create and visualize Tolkien’s fantasy epic novels The Lord of the Rings so well the movie won several Oscars.

Three films were made as well as the Hobbit prequels. They were: The Fellowship of the Rings (2001), The Two Towers (2002) and The Return of the King (2003).

Follow a hobbit and eight companions as they venture on a quest to destroy the One Ring and the evil Dark Lord Sauron.

2. Back to the Future

Who can forget the lovable and goofy Marty McFly in the Back to the Future trilogy?

Go back in time – ahem, the future – with Marty McFly, Doc Brown and their DeLorean. In the first movie of the trilogy, Back to the Future (1985), you are actually taken back in time where we see McFly’s parents in high school.

In Back to the Future Part II (1989) we are presumably in the future – 2015 – only to go back in time to 1955 to prevent anything happening in 1985 – when the movie originally takes place.

And in the last of the series, Back to the Future Part III (1990) we go way back in time to 1885 where there are no cars that fly or that travel in time.

Catch a ride with the gang and travel back to the future!

3. The Godfather

The Godfather (1972) is regarded as the best mobster movie ever made. With a star cast made up of Pacino, Brando, Duvall, DeNiro, Cazale and more, you can’t go wrong with this gangster classic.

The trilogy focuses on the Italian-American Corleone crime family, with Vito Corleone (Brandon) as its head in the first movie. Follow Vito’s son, Michael, in The Godfather: Part II (1974) as he tries desperately to move the family out of the life of crime and into a legitimate business.

In the final movie, The Godfather: Part III (1990) we see an aging Michael trying to find a suitable successor.

If you enjoy mob movies, gangsters and a life of crime, The Godfather trilogy will surely satisfy.

4. X-Men

If you are into Marvel movies and TV series, then X-Men should be on your list of movies to binge watch.

With sci-fi, action, and fantasy, this series has it all and more. The series kicks off with a doctor convinced that mutants will take over the world. He develops a robotic weapon that can detect the mutant gene in a person and kill anyone with it.

With the mutants population declining, Wolverine goes back in time to assemble the X-Men team to help change the past as a way to stop what’s happening in the future.

5. The Bourne Film Series

Jason Bourne brought intensity and urgency to espionage films when The Bourne Identity was released in 2002 – the first movie in the screen adaptation of Robert Ludlum’s popular Bourne novels.

Bourne is the tough, infallible protagonist that can easily fight off the bad guys. But, we don’t meet him like this. He is found in the ocean by a fishing boat and is near death. He has amnesia and doesn’t know who he is. But, he has razor-shop skills and talents in fighting and self-defense.

The movie follows him while he searches dangerous channels to find out who he really is and discovers why assassins are chasing him.

Catch Matt Damon playing Jason Bourne in The Bourne Identify (2002), The Bourne Supremacy (2004), The Bourne Ultimatum (2007), and in production, Jason Bourne (2016).

Wrapping It Up

This weekend take a breather and with your handy SURE Universal remote in hand, sit back, relax, and enjoy a classic like Back to the Future or The Godfather.

If there’s time, why not throw some sci-fi in there and watch the X-Men movies or Lord of the Rings?

Finally, for some action-packed intensity, catch up on what Jason Bourne is up to with his series.

Enjoy your binge-watching marathon and if you have any other trilogies or series, we’d love to hear about them in the comments.
