Tekoia SureMote App Can Control WiFi and IR Smart Devices

SureMote Remote App

Tekoia’s SureMote is a universal remote app that can control smart media streaming and legacy devices that use Wi-Fi or infrared (IR) capability from a single interface.

The company, which hails from Ramat Gan in Israel, plans to demo the app at Computex in Taipai, Taiwan next month, controlling an LG Smart TV for second screen capability, along with an Apple TV, and the iRobot Roomba vacuum. It features a user interface with standard remote keyboard, mouse, gyro, and voice.

The app uses proprietary technology developed by Tekoia, and will run on Android devices, with compatibility for a version of the OS coming later this year. It is a standards-based solution supporting UPnP as the main communication protocol, OIPF command set, and a secure encryption layer.

“SureMote is taking the legacy problems of remotes and moving to the future, where the Internet of Things will be controlling so many devices in the home,” says Viktor Ariel, founder and CEO, Tekoia. “With SureMote, we are focusing on innovation in the user experience and innovative communication technology to create a universal smartphone remote app designed from a user’s point of view. We do not see the remote as an afterthought so the design is appealing. It is a painkiller solution for both appliance makers and users.”

The market for an app that can control all, or at least most, devices in the home, is one poised to grow by leaps and bounds this year as many companies attempt to successfully accomplish universal communication and control.
