A great way to get your 30 minutes to an hour of exercise a day is when you are watching TV.

While people typically watch up to 5 hours a day of TV, finding a time to squeeze in some jumping jack or sit-ups is easy.

A great way to get your heart going is to exercise every time there is a commercial or when you you get up to grab a healthy snack.

And even if you don’t have proper weights or exercise equipment, you can use common household items in its place. For example, use cans of beans or jugs of water to do bicep curls.

You can hook your feet under your couch and do sit ups. In any case, have fun and you might even lose weight while watching TV.

2. Sitting With Their Family

According to an Ofcom study, families are sitting around the TV together more often than families 10 years ago.

It seems like technology is bringing families closer together. Children with their tablets or parents with their smartphone are using these devices together while they enjoy a TV show.

3. Sitting Too Close

When you were growing up, what did you mother always say to you when you were watching TV?
“Johnny, don’t sit too close to the TV or else you’ll ruin your eyesight!”

Too close to the TV

Many children and young adults enjoy sitting close to the TV. They want to see every hair and every sweat bead roll off of their favorite action figure.

Indeed, science has indicated that while sitting too close does create eyestrain, it does not ruin you eyesight.

People also like big TVs when watching their favorite movie or show. Having a big TV often means being closer to it. Sometimes, being too close can lessen the clarity of the TV. You end up seeing the pixels of the TV, even if it’s HD.

The further away you are, the better the image and angular resolution is. So, what’s the best distance to be from your TV?

According to About.com, for a 42″ HDTV, the proper distance is between a 10-15.’

4. Sitting Or Lying On Your Bed
